The Desert Hawks RC Club is primarily a fixed-wing club, though an occasional helicopter will show up at the field.  Members fly electrics, glow and gas planes, from trainers to 40% acrobats.  We have two active turbine pilots, and two just getting qualified.  You can usually find the members sitting around the "burn barrel" in the winter (our busiest period) swapping stories and critiquing each other's flying skills (or lack thereof).  Due to our great climate,  year 'round flying is possible.

The frequency control consists of a transmitter impound.  Our field layout consists of two runways, a large main runway and a shorter one that we usually shift to for our regular mid-morning windy conditions.

The signature event is the London Bridge Seaplane Classic float fly, now in it's 20th year.  We also put on two or three fun fly's during the winter months.

About a third of the membership are "snowbirds", who come from up north to fly with us from November through March.

We have a very active training program, which includes "classroom" as well as "buddy box" instruction.

The meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every month (except June through August) at 7:00 PM at the Mohave County Library in Lake Havsasu City.  Visitors and guests are always invited, and there's usually a raffle prize or two that are claimed before the night is over.
